Ringing In 2022 Together!

One of my favorite adages is Swahili saying, “Ubuntu.” It means, "I am, because we are." It’s a sentiment that says we are better and stronger together, and that we each rely on our communities for strength and stability. It is the perfect sentiment to encapsulate how we feel as a company. We know that we are only as good as our supporters, and that we couldn't do anything we do without you.

As a black-, woman-, immigrant-owned business, we check so many of the boxes that make it harder for us to thrive in this world. Yet here we are, thriving, because of you.

One of my favorite African proverbs says, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." And together, we will go far. We have come such a long way over the past four years. But, as you all know, our vision to build a STEAM school in Senegal, West Africa is big. We used to look at our vision and think we could get it done in a year or two, no problem. But as we dove headfirst into making the school a reality, we realized there are so many obstacles in the way, and so many boxes that need to be checked. Each one can take months, sometimes years, to check. But little by little we chip away at it, year by year. We couldn't be who we are and we couldn't have come as far as we have without you.
